Ib Andresen Industri expands slitting capabilities with advanced new line
Ib Andresen Industri is investing in a new advanced slitting line that will significantly expand its capabilities within steel coil processing while supporting consistently high processing quality.
“The key value of this investment is the new level of capability it brings. With the new line, we will be able to supply high-quality slit coil in dimensions and material ranges that were previously beyond our capabilities, opening new opportunities for both existing and new customers. At the same time, the ability to process larger and heavier mother coils – and use the same coil dimensions across both slitting and cut-to-length – gives customers greater flexibility in sourcing and inventory management,” says Ole Skjold Hansen, Head of Sales – SSC.
The new line will process mother coils weighing up to 35 tonnes, material thicknesses up to 15 mm and widths up to 2,150 mm.
Beyond its expanded mother coil capabilities, the new line incorporates a range of features designed to support high processing quality, including integrated levelling, cropping and customer-specific packaging solutions.
Better prepared for downstream processing
To make subsequent processing easier for customers, the new line is equipped with two levellers that straighten the material before further processing. The head and tail of the coil can also be cropped, while customer-specific packaging solutions can be accommodated.
Together, these capabilities improve the flatness and overall condition of the slit material and help prepare it for subsequent processes such as punching, roll forming and automated production.
The line is designed to process a broad range of material grades and applications, including conventional steels, high-strength steels up to 1,500 MPa, coated products and other metals.
Automation supporting consistency and quality
The investment includes a fully automatic SALICO slitting line, a TITAN packaging line and an NLT automatic tool-change system.
Automated knife handling, inspection and cleaning reduce manual handling and support consistent and efficient setup of the slitting process. Combined with automated packaging, the systems create an integrated production flow from mother coil to finished slit coil.
“This is an investment in additional capability, state-of-the-art processing technology and consistently high processing quality for our customers. We are creating a highly automated setup that combines advanced slitting, levelling, tool handling and packaging in one integrated flow,” says Martin Drejer Thorenfeldt, Production Technology Manager.
